Saturday Family Fun

After a wonderful evening out at Purple Cafe last night with the hubby for date night, today was family day.  On the agenda is a birthday party for a friend of ours little girl who turned 4.  She's little buddies with my 4 year old and I must confess that I hadn't bought the gift yet.  Oops, so off we go to breakfast, shopping and a birthday party.

First stop was my favorite doughnut stop, Top Pot!!!!  Nothing like a latte and a chocolate bar to get you going for the morning.  If you ever make it to Seattle, you MUST stop by one of their many Seattle area locations and try out a doughnut for yourself.

After picking up the appropriate Rapunzel/Tangled doll for the birthday girl, we were off to the party.  As we were walking out of the mall, I took this picture with my iPhone.  It might not be super warm, but any clear blue sky day in February is a good day.

Three stores later, I have finally secured these little pods of star anise. One of my friends had a little get together and made the best drinks, so I got the recipe from her and decided they would be great for Christmas dinner. The recipe calls for a simple syrup with star anise steeped in the syrup and it's amazing how difficult it is to find these pods. I found them at whole paycheck in the bulk section and was thrilled to have located them at a really good price.

Day 356

I figured since we were nearing the end of the year, there should be a little updated photo of me and all my glory. This morning I went to the grocery store to finish up my shopping for Christmas day and of course the comments are beginning because I am not due for another 14 plus weeks. So here I am at 25 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

Day 282

Tonight Mike and I went out on a date night. Shocking, I know, it doesn't happen often. We had a gift certificate to the Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed splitting an appetizer and entree. After dinner we went birthday shopping for a little 2 year old whose birthday party is tomorrow. Lego's are pretty much a sure thing and of course we found the firetruck and a mail post motorcycle. I'm sure they will be a big hit.

Day 254

I was driving in Redmond today and noticed the sign is up for Trader Joe's. There is a TJ's in Issaquah, but I shop more in Redmond because I live on the north end of Sammamish. I'm just super excited for a Trader Joe's closer to my house and hoping it's a little bigger than the Issaquah store.

Day 203

In preparation of our camping trip to the beach, I went in search of water shoes today.

Now, I just have to finish packing for everyone and everything and we will be ready for some fun at the beach camping with great friends.

Day 189

Having multiple ways of communication can get you in trouble sometimes. I received a postcard from Vera Bradley informing me the lunch bags were on sale. Well, since it's grandma day, I headed to Bellevue Square to do some shopping. I picked out the Bali Blue lunch bag for me since my boys have their own lunch box and sometimes I just don't need the big cooler I take to the park.

Day 164

Today was the first ever See Kai Run warehouse sale. It was absolutely nuts, crazy, insane and fabulous. A local mom founded the shoe company that specializes in infant and toddler shoes. I have purchased a few pairs for the boys and was thrilled they were having a warehouse sale. I sent out an email to most of my friends informing them of the sale and a few of us carpooled up to Woodinville. We had a great time to hang out without our kiddos and find some great shoes for the little ones in our lives. Maybe next time See Kai Run will have the bigger kid shoes, Eleven, in their sale.

Day 156

In the search of more fabric for my buggy barn quilt, I headed to Quiltworks in Bellevue. Aaron was the lucky child to accompany mom as Andy went to the Mariner game with dad. Quiltworks has a great little toy corner for the fortunate children who have to go with mom to the fabric store. Aaron had a great time playing with the Lego's while mom found more fat quarters for her quilt.

Day 144

After four years of complaining about my stove, it has finally started to give up the ghost. Part of me is happy about getting a new stove, but we had first started talking about installing new hardwood floors and instead, I'm getting a new stove. Since Sunday School was canceled due to the holiday weekend, we hit a couple of big box stores and appliance stores after church. Shopping for a new stove is almost as bad as shopping for a new car. Hopefully we will make a decision soon.

Day 131

Ah, the Costco run. Tonight was our turn to leave some hard earned cash at one of the greatest stores out there. Our freezer was running a bit low and it was time to stock up. We let the boys hang outside the cart and walk around for a bit. Mike took this picture of mom with her boys. It was nice to be the one holding hands instead of pushing the cart.

Day 91

I bought myself some new fabric today. It is a charm pack of 5 inch squares of 20 different prints by Moda. My plans for these two charm packs is a disappearing 9 patch quilt for me. I have several quilts I'm working on for friends and family members and I saw this fabric and thought it was time to make myself a quilt.

Day 51

I wanted to go shopping today as Baby Gap Outlet was having a sale. Okay, the sale wasn't all that great as I've gotten better deals at the Baby Gap store. One of the best things according to my three year old is the riding toys they have at the outlet mall. It's the best entertainment for 50 cents.

Day 38

Today was one of those rare days that happens as often as snow in Seattle (minus this past winter), purchasing of quilting fabric. My mother-in-law had received notification of a fabric sale at one of the local warehouses of Kona Bay fabrics. Most of the bolts were six yards so you had to really like it. The prices were pretty good for print fabric, so my MIL and I split a couple of bolts of six yards and another bolt nine yards long. The red and white fabric on the bottom was the ONLY bolt of that fabric and I had several ladies mourning their loss of finding it after me. I don't have any plans as of yet, but I'm sure inspiration will come in due time.

Day 14

A day in torturing myself. That was today, as Mike and I are headed to Hawaii in 11 days and I need a new swim suit. The last swim suit I purchased was three and a half years ago when we went to Hawaii the first time with a newborn. Yeah, those don't fit anymore.
I went to Bellevue Square to see if I could find anything. The only thing I found was some really great deals at Ann Taylor Loft and not one of the purchases was a swim suit. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
