Day 364

I had some leftover cream because I had originally planned on making fudge before Christmas and it didn't happen. Well, what does one do with leftover cream? I make ice cream of course! I made a base of vanilla ice cream and have some Candy Cane Joe Joe's from Trader Joe's to crush up and mix in at the end. As you can see, I had a couple of little helpers who are quite mesmerized by the whole process. I'm just hoping they don't contaminate the ice cream with their cold germs.

Day 169

Tonight was our BBQ for our bible study fellowship group to kick off our next study. It was a potluck and I brought dessert. Double chocolate espresso brownies topped off with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream and double vanilla bourbon ice cream. It was so good. Everyone really liked the dessert and one of the guys who is lactate intolerant suffered just to eat some of the vanilla bourbon ice cream.

Day 168

Tomorrow our family is going over to our fellowship group to have a BBQ and discuss the next study we would like do. I volunteered to bring dessert, so the menu plan is cinnamon ice cream, double vanilla bourbon ice cream and double chocolate espresso brownies. Tonight I am putting the custard together for the double vanilla bourbon ice cream and will freeze it tomorrow. The recipe calls for the following:
milk, sugar, salt, cream, vanilla bean, vanilla extract and bourbon.

Can't wait to have some with my brownies!!

Day 101

Tonight we went out to the farm where my grandparents live. Grandpa grilled hamburgers and my Grandma made her famous homemade ice cream. Aaron made the rounds getting ice cream, strawberries and homemade chocolate sauce from various members of the family. Unfortunately, mom completely forgot about the dozen raw eggs in the ice cream and the child who is currently allergic to those eggs proceeded to puke all over mom about 30 minutes later. I figured that was Aaron's reaction to the eggs and at least it wasn't an antiphylactic reaction.
