DIY Ribbon Tee

Most of my wardrobe consists of tees in various colors because they are easy.  I can layer them, throw a sweater over them and toss them in the wash when my kiddos have slimmed me once again.

One of my favorite tees has a stain that I have tried various ways to get rid of and to no avail, that pesky stain is still haunting me and causing me grief.  So why not do a little DIY with some ribbon?

Materials needed:

tee shirt

ribbon

scissors

thread

pins

tape measure

sewing machine

I decided to sew two layers of ribbon to make sure the stain was covered but also to give it a little flare. I placed the ribbon on the tee where I wanted to start and pinned it in place and then pinned the first layer of ribbon around the v-neck to the other side stopping parallel to my starting place.  I then took it over to my sewing machine and sewed the first layer on.  Back to pinning the second layer on and then sewing that row on.

 

 Now try that sassy little tee on and strut your stuff :)

 

Day 361

This is my newest piece of furniture. When my grandma passed away a couple of years ago, I was asked if there was any furniture I wanted and since I live over two thousand miles away, getting any said furniture here was going to be a bit of a challenge. Probably by default I received the sewing cabinet that my grandma used to sit at and sew a few clothes for me. My parents brought it up this summer when they came to visit and I finally got around to clearing out a space for it in my studio.

Day 349

Today after raiding grandma's fabric stash, I left my boys to play with their cousins and I took my raid home to play. I had purchased the service people fabric a couple of months ago with a plan to make a pillow case for my youngest. Unfortunately, the rest of the bolt was not a yard long, so I needed to add some extra fabric to make the pillow case.
It was fun to pull out my sewing machine again and create with it something my little guy is going to love. He loves any type of car or service vehicle that makes noise.

Day 284

This afternoon while the boys were napping, I was able to head to my studio and work on some piecing for my buggy barn quilt. Mike and I were both downstairs so when the boys got up, they came downstairs to hang out with mom and dad. I was still wanting to finish up the block I was working on, so I kept working, but as you can see, I had a little helper. He also likes to push the buttons on my sewing machine, which unfortunately for me, I'm going to have to take my machine in to see if they can reset what he did.

Day 183

I have some leftover fabric from working on my buggy barn quilt and got the inspiration to make headbands. I took five of my favorite fabrics that would coordinate with some of my summer clothes, added a piece of elastic and voila, new headbands that didn't cost me $20.
