Day 352

Bless those little preschool bakers. This week, the kiddos have been baking up a storm during preschool for the bake sale they held today. Andy had fun going through the goodies and picking up the items he made that his name were on, but also general cookies and candy canes.
Now comes the fun part for dear ol' mom who is the preschool treasurer for the 4's class. I get to be the lucky person who counts all of the money. The children will be donating the money to either the food bank or to the pet store to help out pets in our area.

Day 334

Today the teacher had brought out the work bench for curious little minds to practice swinging a hammer into nails. The children wore safety glasses and little aprons to work in. Lucky for me, I got to see Andy in action since I was snack mom today.

Day 329

The other day during preschool, Andy put together a Thanksgiving center piece with various kinds and colors of lentils and good old Elmer's glue. Today we brought it home and Andy is excited to share it with the family and take it to grandma's house tomorrow. I just love how he tried to write his name.

Day 313

This afternoon I had the privilege of joining my little preschooler on his field trip to the salmon fish hatchery. One of the places the children were able to see was the fish ladder and it was interesting to learn that the fish were intrigued by the bright colored jackets. Both the salmon and the children were nose to nose at the window checking each other out. My little guy is the one in the red jacket as of course it was raining today.

Day 306

Another month of preschool began today and it was another day of mom working in the class. One of the projects was to string beads onto a necklace. Andy, with some assistance, was able to find all the letters to his name and then strung them onto the string. It was a fun time in the class and I'm really proud of my little beader.

Day 293

I finally got my sewing to a place where I could clean up that project only to throw another project at my work space. The boys are at grandma's house today so I have a few hours of uninterrupted time to finish up some preschool paperwork. By the way, this is part of the job I dislike the most because no one told me we had to file taxes this year before I signed up for the job.

Day 289

In rare form, here is a picture of me and my little man courtesy of another mom. Today we went to Fall City Farms to the pumpkin patch with Andy's preschool. The field trip was both the morning and afternoon 4's classes and the children were able to see a few farm animals, learn about making cider and tromping through the rain and mud to pick out a pumpkin to take home. Even though the rain was a bit of a damper, my theory is the amount of mud equals the amount of fun and fun was had by all parties.

Day 286

I spent a good part of my time working on preschool treasurer work. My office/studio space is a little bit in need of a storage solution and every space is somewhat unavailable, so I have moved my work to the floor. Not the best working conditions, but maybe I need to finish up a quilting project or two or figure out how to store projects when they are in the midst. Until then, the floor or couch will probably be my companion.

Day 273

I thought I would showcase a bit of Andy's preschool artwork. Last year he wasn't really into doing much artwork or the projects which honestly was fine with mom. Less stuff to have to find a home for. This year, however, he is branching out and painting more. Some of his artwork is hanging in my studio since I like his color combinations.

Day 264

Somebody had fun in preschool today. The 4s class is painting a house to play in and the children painted both the inside and the outside of a cardboard house. When I picked up Andy from school, you could tell who spent the day painting and had a lot of fun.

Day 257

It's that time of year again, when the fall schedule starts and all activities begin. Today marks the first day of 4s preschool for Andy and it's so much different this year. I was sad that Andy was starting school last year, but this year, he's just excited and I'm excited he will be out of the house one extra day. I love the program he's in and can't be happier with our choice in school.

8.10.2009

Day 222

This evening, the preschool board had an emergency meeting to discuss matters for the upcoming school year and I spent most of my day finalizing the year end audit. It's been
a great pleasure to serve on the board this last year and I look forward to serving this upcoming year as well.

6.18.2009

Day 166

Today was the first day of preschool summer camp for Andy and mom didn't pay that much attention to the ending time of the camp. I showed up 30 minutes early without realizing that camp was over at noon and not 11:30 am. Aaron and I were in the car killing time and I let Aaron out of his seat so he could move around a bit. He decided he wanted to stick his head out the sun roof like brother is prone to do when the roof is rolled back. I looked up and just loved what I saw, so I grabbed the camera and took this picture. Such a great shot of my little guy who is getting so big.

5.19.2009

Day 139

It's crazy to think this is the last week of preschool for the school year. The last field trip was an afternoon at Teacher Kim's house. The kids rode their bikes and scooters, got to see the rabbits, chickens and pigs, eat ice cream sandwiches and play with the parachute. It was a fun afternoon to end out the school year. Andy is the one in the red shirt.

5.14.2009

Day 134

Forecast for Sammamish, WA for Thursday, May 14: 57 degrees and rain. Four year old who dresses himself: shorts and a short sleeved shirt.
When it was time to go to preschool, he slid on his rain boots and rain coat and was all ready to go. I just honestly had to laugh. It is way easier to let him dress himself than stand over him trying to get him to wear pants.

4.28.2009

Day 118

This afternoon, Andy's preschool class had a field trip to a local fire station. Since Andy has a younger brother and childcare is a rare commodity during the day, I dropped him off at the fire station and Aaron and I went off to the coffee shop down the street. Besides really good coffee, they have a box of toys. So while I enjoyed a cup of drip coffee and a red pepper and goat cheese scone, Aaron got some time to play with some "new"toys.

3.31.2009

Day 90

Today was the preschool field trip to the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. I took several pictures of Andy on the treasure hunt, but this one was one of my fun pictures for me, as I enjoy taking photos of God's creation. Not much is in bloom yet as it is only early spring, but the contrast of green is just lovely.

2.12.2009

Day 42

One of the requirements of Andy's preschool is the monthly parent education class we attend. For the month of February, the class was on gender differences of boys and girls. Anyone remember Kindergarten Cop?? I was really concerned the class was going to be politically correct, but there were some interesting points about raising boys and girls. We did receive a bibliography of books for references, so who knows what information may lie in that list.

2.11.2009

Day 36

Meet Baby Bear from the preschool. He came to stay with us a couple of days because Andy is star of the week. Today I snapped this picture of Andy so I would have record of Baby Bear's visit to our house. I also spent the day at preschool in the back room to fulfill my part of days worked this month at the preschool. Andy was so excited to not only have baby bear for the week, but to have mom in his class with him. His friend, Monkey, had to share Andy, but I think all turned out fine.
