Catch up Keep up

Oh hey there,

How is it June????  And how is it that school ends next week and I'm off to Spain??  Spain.....  I'll chat more about that later, but I thought I would share a little of what I've been up to since the end of March.

Easter and these yummy rolls that were my contribution to Easter dinner at my in-laws house.

My crew of boys and me.  It was such a rare, sunny Easter day that the boys were able to have an Easter egg hunt outside and my attempt at getting a family picture.  Love my boys :)

Our spring break was the second week in April and the boys and I flew to Denver and then drove to Nana and Papa's house in Oklahoma to spend our vacation with some favorite people of ours.  My husband had to work all week, so the boys and I had an adventure.  Our trip was a lot of fun.  I got to hang out with my mom and dad and my aunt a couple of days.  My grandpa came over a few nights to have dinner with us as well.  He is the last grandparent on my side and my boys loved seeing him.

The flight to Denver was uneventful, we had a great 7 1/2 hour drive to Oklahoma, I got to have pedicures with my best friend who drove 2 1/2 hours to see me and had lunch with another friend that lives back home as well.  My cousin from Ft Worth drove up and we had a mini family reunion.  The trip home was another story......

Great drive up to Denver, only took us 7 hours to get back.  Made it to the airport and had some wonderful people help me get luggage and car seats to the check in area.  Treated the boys with ice cream and then walked down to our gate and got on board the plane.  Well, 30 minutes after we were supposed to have departed, we got off the plane and had to wait until another plane could arrive in Denver to take us back to Seattle, because the plane had mechanical issues and Alaska decided to rather be safe than sorry and for that I do appreciate the delay.

However....instead of getting home at 8pm Seattle time, it was 1 am.  My saving grace was the fact that my wonderful husband was meeting us at the airport to take us home.  Kiddo got an extra day off from school as we all slept in on Monday.

Another great part of April is Opening Day!!!!  Since the official opening day of the Seattle Mariners was the day we flew out to OK, the Mariners held an open house the first day of the season when the M's were playing in Oakland.  (So thoughtful of them :) The Mariner organization opened the gates to anyone who wanted to come in, played the game on the massively gargantuan jumbo tron they installed during the off season and just had a fun evening showing off the new food vendors and updates to the stadium.  If you ever come to Seattle, try to make it to an M's game, we have an awesome stadium :)

May brings flowers and a month long party of birthdays.  Seriously, August was a great month for so many people as there are so many birthdays that month.  I should know, our oldest was born the day before my birthday!  I got my favorite birthday gift in the mail from Vera Bradley, went out for happy hour with some of my best girlfriends up here, went out for Mexican with my family and of course celebrated my 8 year old!

Happy hour with my girlfriends at one of my favorite restaurants, Lot No 3.

Y'all it was in the 80s on my birthday!!!!!  So we headed to the lake with some friends and I got sunburned.....  It was an awesome day.

Mother's Day is the week after my birthday and I sure am thankful for these 3 boys and blessed to be their mother.

I ran into a girlfriend of mine who lives 40 minutes away so sadly, I barely see her, but God just made sure we intersected because she has a little guy who is turning 1 in June and I blessed her socks off with an entire bin of 12-18 months summer clothes for her little guy.  It was so much fun to go through the bin of clothes and remember a 2 of my 3 boys wearing those little outfits and now another little boy gets to wear them.  I am also one less bin of stuff in my house.  Score!

I have been reading a couple of blogs and they do hair tutorials.  I have such long hair and for once in my 36 years of life am trying to be a little more girly and "do" my hair.  I also get loads of complements on those earrings from noonday collection.

Our family spent Memorial Day at the baseball game.  The Mariner's even won, too!!

So that brings you up to speed on what I've been up to and maybe I'll be better about posting, but most likely not :)  I just wanted to share some fun I've had and the blessings I've been given.

Saturday Family Fun

After a wonderful evening out at Purple Cafe last night with the hubby for date night, today was family day.  On the agenda is a birthday party for a friend of ours little girl who turned 4.  She's little buddies with my 4 year old and I must confess that I hadn't bought the gift yet.  Oops, so off we go to breakfast, shopping and a birthday party.

First stop was my favorite doughnut stop, Top Pot!!!!  Nothing like a latte and a chocolate bar to get you going for the morning.  If you ever make it to Seattle, you MUST stop by one of their many Seattle area locations and try out a doughnut for yourself.

After picking up the appropriate Rapunzel/Tangled doll for the birthday girl, we were off to the party.  As we were walking out of the mall, I took this picture with my iPhone.  It might not be super warm, but any clear blue sky day in February is a good day.

Day 324

Andy went to a birthday party for one of his classmates today and brought home a little goodie bag. Inside the bag was probably the coolest thing little brother has ever had the opportunity to play with. It's one of those toys that when you push the button it lights up and spins in a pattern. He looks like he wants to hug it.

Day 283

The. Best. Birthday. Gift. Ever.

Only the gift wasn't for me, but for the birthday boy and it's totally not in my size either. One of our good friends gave Aaron this short sleeve t-shirt as a gift and it only makes sense if you watch the television show Lost and know that my husband and I are big fans of the show. Our friends are also big fans of the show.

Day 280

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AJ!!
Yes, my little monkey boy turns two years old today. He has been in the throws of two for awhile, but I still can't believe how big he is, how much more of a monkey he is than his brother and just how much joy and laughter he brings to our lives. I love you kiddo!

Day 269

This afternoon one of Andy's friends had his birthday party at the park. Andy and I went and enjoyed the time with our friends celebrating pirate style. The boys had a treasure hunt for their goody bag items, ate cupcakes and just had a lot of fun playing together.

Day 250

Happy Birthday Mike!! What a better way to spend your birthday than at the beach with your family playing in the water and sand. God has blessed me tremendously with such a wonderful, godly man who is such a great husband and father to our two boys. It's been such a ride of peaks and valleys, but Michael, I couldn't imagine my life with anyone else. I love you!

Day 179

One of Andy's preschool friends was having a birthday party today and we were invited to attend. This was honestly our first girl birthday party and I wasn't really sure what to expect, but there was a bouncy house and a trampoline to expel some energy and plenty of conversation between the parents. It was also interesting to go shopping for a girl present as Andy wanted to buy Thomas the Train items or pirate games. We did settle on a princess matching game and puzzle. I snapped a picture of the butterfly cake and lady bug cupcakes. The ladybugs were marshmallows covered in frosting and decorator sugar.

Day 165

Tonight the family got together to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. Her favorite dessert is apple pie, so a little pie, ice cream and coffee topped off our dinner. It was a nice evening even if the boys went into melt down mode. Ha ha, nice pun :)

Day 155

The boys and I were invited to join some friends of ours for a pre-birthday party celebration. We went to Kidz Bounce in Preston and then had lunch at Red Robin in Issaquah. The table was set with balloons on each chair and the static electricity was crazy. I snapped a picture of Aaron with the balloon stuck to his hair. It's so great because he was laughing because we were laughing at him.

Day 129

Tonight I went out for dinner with a few of my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. We went to Pallino for a casual, Italian dinner were we could just grab a table, order what we wanted and just hang out without having to worry about reservations. We had such a good time that we closed the place down. I am super blessed with the group of women God has given me as friends.

Day 127

THIRD DAY!!!!
Tonight was the Third Day concert at Overlake Christian Church. It was so much fun!! A new band from Australia, Revive opened the concert, followed by Brandon Heath. All three were fabulous and I have listened to Third Day for many years, so it was fun to see them in concert again and also to hear some of the old school Third Day from when I was in college. Okay, that makes me sound old and I'm really not.

Day 126

Today it's all about me, as it is my birthday. I spent half the day in the car driving Andy to get his new glasses, to the DMV to renew my driver's license and finally home to do as I wished as it was not only grandma day, but my birthday. My boys took me out to dinner to the local Mexican restaurant and gave me my birthday gifts then. One of my gifts Andy picked out for me (with just a small, little help from mom) is the Vera Bradley jewelry book in the color Purple Punch. I will use it to probably store most of my jewelry until my jewelry storage project is done. It will also be very handy to travel with as I used to use small storage baggies and would usually have to untangle a few pieces.

Day 122

Nothing says a birthday party quite like cupcakes. For Andy's birthday party, the activity for the boys was making their own chocolate cupcakes. I have been wanting to make the Barefoot Contessa coconut cupcakes for awhile and decided the adults would want their own cupcakes the kids haven't breathed all over. The cupcakes were moist and yummy and were enjoyed by those who tried them.

coconut cupcakes....

Day 121

I spent the day cleaning our house for Andy's birthday party tomorrow. After getting most of the cleaning complete, my evening event was a night out with girlfriends celebrating my friend's birthday. Her birthday is actually on Sunday, but we went out for dinner tonight. I was chatting with one of my friends and realized I should take a picture of the menu so we could have a memento of the evening.

Day 93

Tonight was my girlfriend, Dana's birthday party at one of the local Mexican restaurants. She didn't want a picture of her in the sombrero, so instead is a picture of our desert. One of my other girlfriends, Crystal picked up cupcakes from New York Cupcakes. We had a great time catching up with each other and laughing. God has truly blessed me with wonderful, godly women as friends.

Day 18

What birthday isn't complete without birthday pie?! We celebrated my father-in-law's birthday today with dinner and lemon meringue pie. It was tart and perfectly sweet at the same time.
