Day 361

This is my newest piece of furniture. When my grandma passed away a couple of years ago, I was asked if there was any furniture I wanted and since I live over two thousand miles away, getting any said furniture here was going to be a bit of a challenge. Probably by default I received the sewing cabinet that my grandma used to sit at and sew a few clothes for me. My parents brought it up this summer when they came to visit and I finally got around to clearing out a space for it in my studio.

Day 107

The completed piece of furniture for my living room. My sweet hubby finished painting and putting on the poly while I was in Oklahoma. It will now house puzzles, coloring books and crayons, play-doh and the little toys that get buried in the big basket. This will either be a great idea or one that will drive me nuts.

Day 85

This afternoon while Andy was in preschool and Aaron was napping away, I spent my free time painting the teal away to a shiny black on the dresser. I thought I would capture a picture of my progress and the before and after of what's to come.

Day 82

I love re purposing furniture. For a while now, I have needed to find a new way to store toys. Recently, I started searching for new ideas on how to store the toys since they are mainly in my living room. I mentioned my search to my mother-in-law and she mentioned she had a dresser in her garage that may work. It took me a little bit of time to decide, but the price was right, FREE! I even managed to score black paint and poly out of their garage as well. I will need to find new drawer pulls as the ones attached were dated. I forgot to take a picture before I got started, but you can see that it has nine drawers and will be able to store most of the little toys that DRIVE ME CRAZY!!

Day 68

Today I did a little furniture shopping. The best part, it's all free. Well, it's kinda on loan from my mother-in-law who usually has a piece or two extra hanging around the house. The first piece is actually a writing table that isn't necessarily our style, but I like it and it's the right height.

The second table is a side table my MIL purchased at IKEA and then painted black. I wasn't hip on the matchy, matchy, but it's really the right size. I can still get into my drawers without having to move it out of the way and it's the right length too.

Now I have a little more time to search out two more perfect tables while scavenging the consignment stores in the area.

Day 60

A new day, a new month, a new bed, woohoo! Mike spent all day yesterday painting and getting the bed installed. Today, I get to admire his hard work. This bed is higher than our previous one and I almost need a step stool to get into it.

Day 54

Here is what my bedroom looks like sans bedroom furniture. The is also the first time in our our married life that we have slept on the floor. It's also kinda funny that the bedspread that is currently on our bed is the one we registered for at JCPenny's ten years ago. Can we say update??

Day 49

Mike and I found a new bed this past weekend and decided if we are to purchase a new one, then we need to sell what we currently have. Our bedroom set was one of the first pieces of furniture we bought together right before we were married. It has survived ten years, four moves and two children. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit our current house and I haven't been able to use the mirror on the dresser for almost four years. Today I spent some major time and energy cleaning up our room to attempt to take pictures to put up on craigslist. I thought I would use the picture with my little helper.

Day 20

Today I turned around from the table and noticed that my son had rearranged his table with the dinning room chairs, minus the one mom was sitting on at the table. It's fun to see how they see the world and how it should go at times.
